15th September

A hot cloudless morning with light winds was inevitably fairly quite. Overhead there were a few hirundines early morning (40 Swallows and 30 House Martins) plus eight Grey Wagtails, two alba Wagtails, a single Tree Pipit and the first Redpoll of the autumn. Siskins were still going through but not quite in the same numbers as the last few days. The heat sapped our enthusiasm so coverage wasn't that extensive with only 43 Chiffchaffs, one Willow Warbler, 15 Blackcaps and three Stonechats. Two Goldcrests and a single Mistle Thrush were signs that the autumn is progressing.
