5th September

Another day in which we failed to find a Wryneck unlike many other sites in Kent, however the day was busy with plenty of common migrants, which included four Short-eared Owls  at Hope Point, 4 Whinchats, two Stonechats, three Wheatears and single Redstart and Spotted Flycatchers. Phil covered the fields around the village and added 21 Wheatears, seven Whinchats and seven Yellow Wagtails to the tally.

The Cuckoo seen a few days ago at Ship House was still present

On the warbler front there were 74 Blackcaps, 14 Lesser Whitethroats, 22 Whitethroats, 14 Chiffchaffs and seven Willow Warblers, three Reed Warblers, one Sedge Warbler and four Grasshopper Warblers.

Overhead Siskins continued to move North with at least 95 recorded.

50 species recorded
