21st October 2017

Birding was impossible at Bockhill with the SW gale so when Phil called, saying he had two Yellow-Browed Warblers at Oldstairs road, Richard and I went to meet him. Where it was calm there were quite a few birds with seven Chiffchaffs, 21 Goldcrests and 15 Long-Tailed Tits.
Overhead, moving into the wind, were 45 Swallows, 20 House Martins, a Sand Martin, 20 Alba Wagtails, 60 Siskins, 300 Goldfinches, 42 Redpolls and two Reed Buntings. At sea were 521 Black-Headed Gulls and 85 Mediterranean Gulls.
