24 January 2026

A seawatch from 08:30-10:30 produced many birds moving in every direction. There were 25 Red-throated Divers moving NE, 300 Kittiwakes SW, 1200 Auks (mainly Guillemots) moving in every direction and 1500 Cormorants and 70 Gannets fishing together on the sea.

Star birds were a Sooty Shearwater and a Little Gull moving downchannel.

21st January 2026

Jay and I did a seawatch in a strong SW wind which made the sea very rough making counting the birds extremely difficult. Cormorants were everywhere and probably totalled over 1000 birds whilst Red-throated Divers, Razorbills and Guillemots bobbed up and down on the waves making counting impossible.

Far fewer birds moving on the sea today with only 34 Red-throated Divers and 9 Auks however moving upchannel, the opposite way to yesterday, were 1080 Cormorants.
